Post Hurricane Video

-By Mike DeBritz on Tuesday, August 30, 2011

A crazy week here in the Northeast!

For all our friends and customers outside the immediate area who ever wondered where Scotia was? This week I guess we are officially on the map. Located not far from the Hudson and Mohawk rivers, we're now very familiar with the meaning of the 100 year flood.

Overall the hurricane wasn't that bad, most of us lost power and didn't really have an idea how bad it was outside of our respective neighborhoods.  Our county was in a state of emergency, warning about unnecessary travel.

We're located by the blue arrow, luckily on top of a decent sized hill.  The red arrows show where all the trouble started.

The bridge that crosses the Mohawk River, Route 5 on the map, and the people close by were not so lucky.

Click the photo below to see an aerial video that really tells the story, you'll be amazed at how widespread the flooding was!

Unfortunately there will be no ski show or ice cream this week, but people are kind and generous. There's already a fund being set up to get "Jumpin Jacks" back for next summer!
